Getting ready

We are in the early stages of getting ready to sell our house. Part of me is dreading it knowing what some of my friends have gone through recently to sell their houses. The other part of me is so excited for a bigger house. It's going to be sad to leave this house and all the memories, but I am looking forward to starting new in a place we plan to stay for a while.

The past couple weeks have been "Project Basement." We painted all the walls and floors (well actually my dad did. Thanks, Dad!) in the unfinished part of our basement. Along with that came moving around and going through lots of stuff. Ava found the controller to the old-school Nintendo quite amusing. Sad to say that she will likely never play a NES or even ever see one again. :)

We have also been enjoying my dad's retirement-like work status lately. Not only has he been helping with house projects, we've gotten to hang out with him a lot more. We love it! Today we had lunch at the Rock Bottom Brewery.

You might notice a little bruise on Ava's forehead in this pic; it's from her first fall off of the changing table. It was definitely more traumatic for Mike than Ava. She seems no worse for the wear.

These days Ava is getting more brave about exploring. We are enjoying that she is getting better and better at communicating with us using her signs and other nonverbals. And she's up to two teeth now! This week she also started giving kisses; Grandpa Dave was the lucky first recipient.
